Most Common Fashion Myths Debunked

Fashion rules, like any other rule, seem to beg to be broken. There is no objective rule that must be followed. Let’s be frank, we wear what makes us feel fabulous, comfortable or what is affordable. The three most common fashion rules that time and time again we encourage our clients to break involve wardrobe size, flats and shapewear.

Myth #1: I need to have an extensive wardrobe to look polished.

Truth: You don’t need an extensive wardrobe to look polished and feel fabulous. The key to looking and feeling polished is how you put together your outfits. Purchase versatile pieces that you can mix and match to create new outfits. For instance, blazers. A blazer can be worn with pants, dresses, skirts and yes, even shorts. Adding a blazer to your outfit will create a different look, we guarantee it.

Myth #2: Flats don’t look sophisticated.

Truth: It’s not about the height of the heel; it’s about the overall look of the outfit. You can still look sophisticated with a nice pair of flats. For instance, a pair of loafers looks great with ankle pants and a blouse.

Myth #3: Shapewear is only for women who want to camouflage body problem areas.

Truth: Shapewear is great for more than tucking in your body’s problem areas. Shapewear is also a great option to create a seamless look. What do we mean by this? The bulge created by your shirt when you tuck it in can be smoothed down if you tuck your shirt under your shapewear.
